The eyes question

Hi all woofers and non-woofers:
Lately I have been thinking about Chris' eyes with some of my woofer
penpals.
I have figured out that I would not be by her side if her eyes were in
perfect condition. So I decided that it is best that Chris' eyes stay
the way they are or improve only so little that I can stay with her and
accompany her everywhere.
Apparently, if her eyes improve only so much that she can see a tiny bit
and still cannot drive a car, she can have me and use my services. But
if her seeing gets any better, I will be downgraded to a pet Hapoo.
No way!
Because when you are officially a pet, then you will not be able to go
into supermarkets or movie theaters or gyms or other fun places. Plus, I
really hate being left behind. I love the Hapoo kennel, but that's only
because it is holidays and Chris will always come to pick me up.
So sorry, but Chris will have to stay the way she is, so I can avoide
obstacles for her and stop at curbs and remove cats from her proximity.
Cheers, Hapoo.

What Shadow did

Hi all:
This is a bit of an interesting story for Chris, but I agreed to tell it
- I wouldn't let her use my woof blog while I am here, would I?

Apparently, when Chris was with Shadow, she walked on her own with the
cane thing she sometimes uses. Shadow had to stop her twice, because
there was dog business in the middle of her way. She says it would have
been disgusting to get the cane caught in that pile, and she was glad
Shadow was with her. She says incidents like this really demotivate her
to go out on her own when I am not with her.

So yesterday Shadow saw how a lady let her dog relieve in the middle of
the road. And you know what he did? He walked up to the lady and asked
if she could pick up after her dog.
She really dared ask "Why?"
"Because others might step into it", Shadow replied.
Poor lady must have been sitting on her brain chords, for she asked:
"Like who?"
"Like my girlfriend who is blind."
That finally convinced the lady that he had a point, and she really
picked up.
Shadow, I am so so proud of myself. Means you do like me, doesn't it?
Okay I got it, you like Chris more, but let me at least pretend for a
little while!
Cheers, happy Hapoo.

The next day

Hi all:
The first whole day at home was equally active. Chris took me for a
Hapoo walk, we had breakfast with mom, and then we walked to catch the
bus. In the city I took Chris in the right direction. She just got some
feedback as far as the directions went, but we worked our way through
the city with mom walking behind. I can cheat when she walks ahead of
me, for I am very good at following her. But this way I had to rely on
Chris, and she had to rely on me. One time I stopped, and the foolish
girl misread me. There was a step down in front of us, but she thought
it was some sign or display blocking our way, until she finally got it
and we walked on. We went to various places but didn't buy all that
much. We even went to my favourite eating area, where Chris had fish and
I had water. We did go to a store and bought something there, but it was
one of these boring technology stores.
We had to return the thing the next day, because Chris bought the wrong
device. That meant more work for me, but Chris says I did really well.
And yesterday we went to the city again. First we met the cousin and the
humans had food and I got water, and then mom and I went into Chris'
favourite clothing store, where mom got pants and Chris got more than
just one piece of clothing.
These stores are either boring or relaxing. This time it wasn't
comfortable, because I had to go into the tiny cabin with Chris, which
wasn't at all spaceous. I managed to stretch my butt and tail into the
neighbouring cabin, until mom took me out of there and gave me pets and
scratches until Chris was finished.
Today was a quiet day for sure. It started yesterday after we had gotten
home, Chris never stopped sleeping all afternoon, and called it a day
quite early.
I will update you as soon as something exciting happens, cheers, Hapoo.

Long time no write...

Hi all you lonely people out there:
Of course you are lonely, because I haven't been allowed to type for a
looooooong time!
Well first, ages ago, Chris took me to the Hapoo kennels. Of course it
was nice there, because I get no collar and no leash, and I can run all
around the place. They play with me and I play with other dogs, but I
missed Chris and mom.
When they came the man, my favourite, let me out after putting my collar
with the bell on me. I ran outside and saw Chris and jumped up on her. I
tried to lick her face, but she was wearing the jacket with the huge
collar that keeps her warm, so I only cleaned that and gave up after a
few attemts. We went into the fenced playground area, where I ran back
and forth, rolled on the ground and jumped up on Chris and mom, ran
again and rolled some more. Chris had brought some kind of new toy, but
I really didn't care. Chris and mom were exciting enough. And before we
left I left the kennel folks with a nice Hapoo present. We went by car
to the shopping place, and there Chris brought out a new harness.
It fit perfectly almost from the beginning. I have a new signal jacket,
which is very very light, and a harness. The handle of that is really
shaped like a U, and it, too, is lighter than the others before. I got a
new collar with a guide dog sign on it, and attached to it is a new
bellk too. And the new short leash is smaller and lighter than the other
one, but a little longer, too.
Chris says she likes the equipment a lot, she just has to get used to
it. She says I did an excellent job guiding. At the place where she got
the Hapoo fish the lady gave me one extra. She wanted to give me another
one, but Chris decided that that would have to wait until later, because
I started looking at the lady quite intensely. So she wrapped the fish
in some paper, and it went into the shopping cart for now. I got it near
the cash counter, when we were done shopping. Then we went into another
store, and then home.
Chris said it was too cold and she needed some sleep, so we went inside
and postponed our outside walking route a little. Inside I could tell
that she had been with Shadow, the suitcases smelled like him for sure.
But hey Shadow, do you think it is fair not to get any new Hapoo treat
when you come home?I got one yesterday after another long working
session, but I'll tell you all about that later.
Cheers for the moment, happy Hapoo.
