a new bed!

Hi everybody:

Have I told you that I got a new Hapoo bed? Well one of these days the coolest man on wheels, Daniel, came and picked us up. First we went into the furniture store, but this time we bought nothing but human food. They had breakfast while I lay in the aisle wiith a splendid view of every move people passing by made.
After a long while of human talks and Hapoo looks they got up, and we walked to a Hapoo store just across the street. I had never discovered that before! The wheels man knows his way around, he took me past delicous food, of which Chris did not permit me to have a single bite, and then we were at the dog bed shelf. Chris took one down and put it on the floor. I thought this was a setup, so I jumped over it to avoid making a mistake, but Chris told me I could lie down on it. She said it was large enough for me, and after looking at a few more things, we bought the bed and a blanket, and then we all went to work.
There Chris just made a phone call with the boss, and then we left for home. However, the bed was not there.

The wheels man brought it the next day, and Chris took it upstairs, where I was waiting. I ran to occupy it, but Chris called me to get ready, because we still had to go to work. At night I first lay down on it, but I thought it was too soft, so I spread out on the floor. The next day, however, I decided that the bed wasn't all that bad after all, because it has a nice resting place for my head. That is just so cool! Can I have another one for work, please?
No, she immediately says, because I have the royal bed there, the high soft cushion, that is more suitable for work.
Well, I guess I have to be content with that, and it is really not all that bad. Besides, I think I heard the news that Chris and I are going to have a major travel ahead of us, and it is going to be stressful.
Have a good time everybody, cheers, Hapoo.

an interesting day once again

Hi all:

A few days ago we had a really long weekend, Chris and I. We left work early, and Chris was really cheerful, because she was going to watch tennis for three days. And that's what she did, she was glued to the TV and watched tennis. She says in the end Spain won, but without Rafa and another man called Ferrer they really had to fight hard. The doubles and the decider were straight, but the rest were very intense battles. She says that this was the event she had planned to go see, but watching it at home was as nice.

In the middle of all this mom arrived and we went shopping. Chris bought a new TV, where the electricity cable was missing. She was really disappointed, but mom, the greatest mom of all, went and got a cable for her, bringing along the lady friend of hers, who gave me pets and cuddles while mom and Chris were setting up the TV. And when it was all done, the ladies left and Chris settled in to watch tennis, of course. I have to tell you that the new TV looks more like a PC monitor, it is flat and much tinier than the old one. Chris exchanged them because the old one showed no pictures - as if she had cared!

After that tennis weekend we still didn't return to work, but the next morning Chris got up, prepared tons of coffee and even baked a cake. Then we relaxed and I got a few yummy treats. I need to mention that the phone rang a few times. In the afternoon after the Hapoo walk the doorbell rang and Chris left alone to meet somebody on the stairs. She returned with a package. It was from Daniel, the man who had visited the previous weekend. And as she unpacked it, she knew what it was.

She says he was such a good listener, he gave her the Eurovision CDs of this year, you know that contest where many people sing, folks call to tell numbers, and at the end one song is played again and the singer is happy unlimited. And so was Chris, because she really liked that present.

Then the doorbell rang again, and this time mom and the niece Lena arrived, followed by the sister and the tiny dog. Cake was brought in and many flowers, which Chris was really happy about, and then they talked until the niece got bored and persuaded the sister to go to the playground.

Mom, Chris and I went to the supermarket very quickly, and after that we all took a long walk, on which the niece picked flowers again, and mom shared her knowledge of the weirdest wild plants.

When we were back, the niece played again on the tiny playground, and then we all went for food. We ended up at a Chinese place, where we sat down outside. but when the man came, he told us we could go inside, all of us even the dogs, and sit. The humans sat at a large table, and we dogs settled behind them. They all enjoyed their meal very much, and when they were finally done, the weather was still so good that Chris had the idea to go to the beach. om was tired, so we didn't after all.

Chris got a few more phone calls and talked and talked,  but the next day we had to go to work again. She calls that event her birthday.
Allright, off to get her to shut down the PC so we can run to work, Yours, Hapoo in the hot northern summer.

another visitor

Hello everybody:
I have the chance now to update you further. But beffore I start: let's get political. Chris wants me to tell that we even have somebody from our highest parliament reading the stories of mine. Hi parliament, can I com and flirt with all of you? Chris says there would be over a thousand parliamentary hands to do so, already deducting those who aren't there and those who are scared -tss- scared - of me!

Anyhow, I was going to tell you that on Saturday, the last really nice and warm day, Chris harnessed me up and we turned into the direction of the streetcar. I showed her the traffic pole and we crossed the street somewhat diagonally, so Chris could locate the curb before the tracks. We have toe option to cross straight and walk across the tracks, or to go diagonal, so Chris knows where the platform before the tracks is. The sighted folks say it looks dangerous, but I am by her side, and we have our own ways. We waited a little, until a streetcar arrived. And before I could even thi9nk that we would board the train, a man got off and greeted Chris like they meet every day. Truth is I have never ever seen him, and Chris and he later decided that it was thirteen or fourteen years ago when they had met first. I didn't even sing for him, he was so unenthusiastic about me and so calm, I didn't get the chance. We walked home, and then Chris prepared pasta, and afterwards they sat down and talked. I tried to get the man to flirt, but he wasn't too thrilled. He petted me and then Chris sent me to my place. He is really weird, I don't even think I would want to sing for him. I don't even bark at him, he is just there and everything is allright. He is even resistent to my wakeup calls - strange guy.

By the way, his name is Daniel, too, but he has no wheels or dog or crutches or cane. His sight serves him well, he says.
They spent the afternoon talking and listening to music, and then they sat outside on the balcony. Daniel is the second person after Sophia, the fun friend, who fell asleep in the comfortable chair out there. Chris woke him up after she had finished checking her emails and stuff like that, and then the chatting continued. Later at night the doorbell rang, Daniel went to open the door, and in he came with good smelling pizza - only for humans, of course. But well, we know our fate, we well-behaved dogs do.

the next morning Chris and I left the house for the morning route, while Daniel was still sleeping. After she had prepared breakfast enough, we woke him up, and the friendly calm harmony continued. I think the two got along as if they had never had the break in communication. Chris even played the piano for him, and that, believe me, is an honour at its finest. She even quietly sang along - she does that to guests one in a hundred times or so. Then we walked to the streetcar stop again. But since Chris let me walk on the flexible leash, we took Daniel up to the traffic pole and then he crossed on his own and I finally got to do my business in all peace and quiet.
I really think Chris liked that day with Daniel, and he enjoyed it, too, because I was very polite with him myself. After all, I am a royalty and can behave if I have to.
Cheers, Hapoo.

a weird experiment

Hi everybody:

I know I am behind, but I hope what I have to tell is interesting. The week was quiet and not eventful after that wonderful day with the furry Basti dog. But Chris wouldn't be Chris if she didn't come up with weird things to do.

one day at work the man on wheels, Daniel, who never forgets to greet me, mentioned that in his car he had a wheelchair for a friend of his. Chris asked if she would fit in that, and he confirmed that. So apparently the idea was born that she could try to drive a wheelchair. I don't know what is so exciting about that, but when we all went down to Daniel's car, Chris was excited. Daniel unpacked the wheelchair, and chris asked if his friend wouldn't mind.

Daniel was funny, he said his friend didn't mind that he, Daniel, had picked up the wheelchair, so he shouldn't mind the first test to be driven by Chris. She doesn't fit into Daniel's wheelchair, because he is way smaller than she. After he had clicked in the wheels, Chris really sat downinside that chair. She told me to sit down and stay, and then she took off.

She really drove the wheelchair across the parking lot and seemed to enjoy it a lot. When she was too far away for me to keep an eye on her, I left my place and ran to her rescue. She took me on leash, but she says I walked too near the wheels, so she handed the leash to Daniel, who really kept it tight. I had no chance to escape.

Chris says it was weird to get stuck in a pavement crack and not be able to get out on your own. So she had Daniel push her until the wheels got grip again. It was a wheelchair where you can move the wheels with your hands, if you are a human and have working hands. I am just thinking if there are people with non-functionning legs, why shouldn't there be ones with hands that don't work? But I am really relieved only chris' eyes aren't working, so I can step in and replace that loss as much as I can. She's got the feet to walk with me, and the hands to hold on to the harness and to pet and feed, and the mind to always make sure she is the head of the team.

Finally Daniel showed her how to remove the wheels, and she loaded them into his car, and he left without us. She says that was an interesting experience, and she thanks him for it. I am really heppy we didn't take that wheeler home, trust me, and we walked there as usual.
cheers for now, Hapoo.
